Happy New Years everyone! Party harty! This is another video update discussing some changes going on around Frugally Green for 2010.  I like doing these on holidays. Watch and enjoy.  If, for some reason, you’re not able to view the video, here are the highlights:

I’ve finally completed my annual review and, for the most part, have my life set for the next 365 days.  Hopefully you’ve got some big plans for 2010 as well.  Feel free to let us all know what they are in the comments.

As a result of my annual review, I’ve decided to make three significant changes to Frugally Green this year.  I’m excited.  I hope you are, too.

New Guest Contributor

Aldra from Consciously Frugal will now be a guest contributor here, posting monthly. If you don’t already know her from the comments section of the site where she’s an active participant, let me tell you she’s a pretty great person and an excellent writer with enough opinion to go around.  I’m really excited to have her on board and I know you’re going to love what she has to offer.

If you’re dying to get to know her right away, feel free to head on over to her site.

New Posting Schedule

I’m changing the posting schedule back to once per week.  I weighed a lot of options while considering this and it was a tough decision to make, but I am certain that it is what is best for you, me, and Frugally Green.

Though a little less frequent, the new schedule will allow me to write much deeper posts that are more valuable and actionable to you. Every time you read a Frugally Green article, I want you to have all the information you need to form a full opinion or implement a new idea in your life.  This schedule will help support that goal.

Frugally Green Now Accepting Guest Posts

In an effort to make Frugally Green a really great, community oriented site, I will start accepting guest post submissions.  Reading through all the comments of 2009, I realized that many readers are also bloggers and have some really awesome things to say (I love having smart readers!).

If you’d like an opportunity to share your wisdom here, I’d be happy to help facilitate that.  Just head to the contact page and get a hold of me however you like. Also, feel free to just leave a comment here if you’d prefer and I’ll get in touch with you.

Thanks for being such an important part of Frugally Green in 2009.  I really look forward to spending the next year with you.

Merry Christmas, all!  This is just a quick video salutation (less than 1 min.) to say:

  • Merry Christmas, duh!
  • Presents are cool, but people are better.
  • Don’t forget to recycle your wrapping paper.
  • Stay tuned for an update next week about what Frugally Green will look like in 2010.

I hope you’re in a nice warm place with friends and family.  Wear out your voice singing Christmas carols if you must, but make sure there’s plenty of eggnog around to soothe the windpipes.

Merry Christmas.

Hey everyone.  Thanks for stopping by.  I am changing the posting schedule for Frugally Green to now include 3 posts every week.  I didn’t know if I would ever get here, but the time has finally come. I started Frugally Green with one post and a prayer back in April and am pleased to now be able to offer you so much more.  I expect this to stretch my abilities as a new writer, but the personal growth will be worth it.  As my dad always said, “nothing worth doing is ever easy.”

You can now expect a new post here every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  I hope that you’re as excited as I am about this.  I can’t wait.

See you Monday! I’ve got my work cut out for me this weekend.

surveying

Please note that the survey is now closed.  Thanks for all the thoughtful responses.

Hey folks,

Frugally Green is nearly 6 months old!  It’s been an interesting ride from the start and I’ve learned so much about personal finance and sustainability.  More so, I’ve learned more than I ever thought possible about how blogging and this social media business works.  Hopefully you’ve learned a lot, too.

One of the most important things I’ve learned along the way is that your input is the most valuable resource to me.  I can write post after post about the things that interest me, but if I want to be truly successful and make a difference, well, those things need to be interesting and engaging to you, as well.

That’s why I’ve decided to check in with you by offering a survey.  I really value your thoughts and opinions and this seems like the best way to get some specific feedback from people who really care about the site.

A few things about the survey:

  • Only 50 responses will be collected – I’ve limited the number of responses because I want to be able to give my full attention to the responses of everyone that took the time to help out and take the survey. If things go well, I will consider collecting more in future surveys. I will update this page once all responses have been collected.
  • It’s only 7 questions – I respect your time and want to give you an opportunity to let me know how I’m doing without saddling you with a ton of questions.  I won’t waste your time by asking you questions I don’t need the answer to.  It should only take about 8 minutes to complete.
  • It’s completely anonymous – I have requested a name and email address, but providing it is completely optional.  If you leave feedback that you would like me to follow up with you about, I will need some way to contact you.  If you don’t need me to contact you about anything, feel free to leave those spaces blank. Please know that if you do provide your email address, I will never sell it, spam it, or do any other nasty things with it.
  • All the questions are optional – I really hope that you’ll want to answer all of them, but I’ll understand if there are some you’d prefer to skip.

So, if you’re interested in making a difference and helping to shape the future of Frugally Green, please click the link below to complete the survey:

Update:  Since I’m a web idiot, I didn’t realize that my scheduled post would still go up before this update after coming back online.  I hope you enjoy the post: Sustainable Bathrooms: Saving Water by Pooping Less (and more). I’m done messing around today, I don’t want to screw anything else up.  See you all Saturday!

Hello fellow readers!

This is just a quick post to let you know that if you were disappointed that a new article was not posted this morning, I’m right there with you.  This morning, the shared server that Frugally Green is hosted on was attacked by evil e-villians.  These internet terrorists are the ones that screw up your favorite websites, deliver endless porn advertisements to your email inbox, and say awful things about your grandmother behind your back.

Luckily, my web hosting company was all over the issue and it appears that everything has been resolved and we’re back to homeostasis.  For those of you that had the misfortune of tuning in this morning and found a smiling portrait of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad greeting you with some babbling text about Iran, I can assure you that this was not a preview of the potential redesign that I mentioned in the last site update.

Anyway, thanks for hanging in there.  Bear with me as I make a few modifications on my end and we will be back to the regularly scheduled programming momentarily – a regularly scheduled post will be up before the end of the day.
